Title : Completions And Isomorphism Type: 80 Years of Algebra  

ABSTRACT 

Max Deuring showed in 1932 that the isomorphism type of modules over an
algebra can be determined if one extends the base field. In 1970 this
result was generalised to more general rings by Roggenkamp. I will explain
these developments, their historical and mathematical context,
and present a generalisation to derived categories.
